Demolition of the former Altrincham Hospital is nearing completion. We bring you some photographs taken today of the site – see below. The work is being undertaken by Hale-based environmental contractor, McAuliffe and is expected to take a total time of 18 weeks. The new building will retain the Victorian facade of the old hospital for incorporation in the new health and wellbeing centre.

Construction is due to take place in early 2017 and will be finished in the winter/early 2018.

The new Health & Wellbeing Centre has been designed in collaboration with NHS Trafford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Trafford Council. The £20m development will centre on social and healthcare integration. It will provide GP practices and also enhanced community facilities alongside the new Altrincham Library and Tourist Information Service.
How the work is progressing!
The new project will further enhance the modern feel of the area and hopefully continue the towns much needed regeneration!

Why do all the new buildings that go up in Altrincham have to be so ugly.
None of them are sufficiently distinguish to make a significant contribution to this ancient market town.
