Hale Barns Carnival returns this July for its 6th year with an amazing weekend of Big Headline Concerts, Family Attractions, Supercar displays, Makers Markets, Artisan Food & Drink and much more!
The first headliner to be announced is American R&B Legend Alexander O’Neal who will be performing an exclusive concert on Saturday evening, performing a hit-filled show to the Hale Barns audience. It will be an exclusive appearance for the North of England!
The Minneapolis based R&B soul singer cut his teeth in Prince’s The Time. He later went on to become one of the biggest R&B Soul Singers of the 1980s, having created numerous dancefloor burners and slinky romantic mega hits throughout his career. He’s credited with creating the modern soul sound with his unique gospel singing technique.
Having sold millions of records both here and in USA, Alexander O Neal’s impressive back
catalogue includes Fake, Criticize, Saturday Love’, If You Were Here Tonight, and Never Knew Love Like This.
The organisers will be flying Alexander O’Neal in from Minneapolis specially for the July 16th concert. He will be joined by two further headliners on Friday and Sunday to complete the evening line ups which will be announced later next month.
All ticket revenue from the evening concerts will again be donated towards community
projects and charities.
One ongoing project supported by the event is to help fund the building of a new community hall in Hale Barns, which will provide a platform to showcase local talent and run adult learning and youth projects. Thanks to funding from Hale Barns Carnival, building work has begun and it is expected to be completed later this year.
The community event has raised more than £250,000 for the local community since it’s inception and is entirely not for profit, created and organised by Max Eden.
Max Eden spoke of his excitement ahead of this year’s event:
“I am thrilled that we have secured probably one of the biggest Soul/R&B stars for Hale Barns Carnival this year, that along with our other plans, we have a really special weekend planned this year with lots of amazing surprises and it’s definitely going to be our biggest event yet! Hale Barns Carnival is back bigger and better than ever before thanks to the phenomenal demand and incredible support of the community and the local businesses who support us!
‘When we started Hale Barns Carnival, I wanted to create an event for the whole community to come and enjoy, a platform to have the opportunity to showcase the amazing community groups,
charities, businesses and talented performers in our area alongside bringing some of the biggest names in music from around the world to perform in our village!”
The headline evening concerts are once again complemented by a two-day free Hale Barns
Carnival family event on the Saturday and Sunday (16th and 17th July).
The daytime programme will feature attractions including local performances and live music, traditional funfair, maker’s market, artisan food & drink, kids crafts, supercar displays and dazzling family entertainment!
Daytime entry is free from 12 noon until 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
This year’s festival takes place across the weekend from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th July 2022. It will be staged on the St Ambrose Playing Fields in Hale Barns and sponsored by B&M Bargains & Benchmark Security Group, We Are Curves & NSS Group who will be sponsoring the Friday Night Charity Concert which is yet to be announced.
For Saturday’s Headline Concert Alexander O’Neal will be supported by Hale Barns Carnival
favourite Tameka Jackson, who performed at the event in 2018.
Previous headliners of Hale Barns Carnival include Boney M, Martin Kemp, Odyssey, The Real Thing and Russell Watson.
