Dubbed Out

Dubbed Out Festival takes place between 9th and 12th June 2022 – we take a look at what to expect!

You’d be forgiven for thinking Dubbed Out derived its name from being a music festival. It is and it isn’t. Here’s the story of how, why and when Altrincham is now home to the biggest Volkswagen or ‘Dub’ festival in the Northwest.

Dubbed Out is the brain child of two Northern dance music promoters who also share a love of the VW Campervan scene. Once the Covid lockdowns began, the event scene came to a standstill but for some reason, camping was permitted. Germaine and Neil turned their focus to building the Dubbed Out VW Community, with a view to not only camping meets, but a full scale VW event with all the trappings of a music festival.

Fast forward 2 years and Dubbed Out Festival is on the verge of opening its gates to over 1,000 VW Campervans traders and artists and as we write, 3,000 revellers and counting! The weekend camping tickets sold out very quickly but there are still day tickets available, so there’s still time to get involved in this 5,000+ capacity festival.

What can you expect at Dubbed Out?

Let’s start with the two big top circus tent arenas housing the finest sound systems and lighting available, regularly used at Creamfields and other major outdoor events. The Dubbed Out team have been careful to reach their whole audience which ranges from under 16 to over 65s! Expect to see new, up-and-coming Wigan band The Lilacs spinning their own kind of fresh indie rock, alongside 7 piece Reggae outfit, Ruff Trade who will be playing the greatest Reggae tracks of all time alongside ’80’s and ’90’s classics with a Reggae twist!

The mainstage will also be host to the hugely popular Manchester Ska Foundation and an amazing trio called Scratch, who recreate ’90’s dance anthems with guitars, sax and repeater peddles, accompanied by the energetic and fiery Emma.

Headlining over the weekend you’ll see Sweet Female Attitude, performing her hit single Flowers and the Manchester Super band, the acid jazz/soul funk collective, De-Tronic, who between them have had a string of chart topping tracks over the years. Also performing are Trees Are Calling, new multigenerational project from bassist and songwriter Stuart Whitehead (original bassist with Manchester jazz-funk kings), Hope for Return, Mark Frith, and a host of DJs playing everything from Motown, Disco, ’90’s classics and ’80’s hits – and that’s just the music!

There is also a full Fairground with more than 100 stalls, food outlets, bars, circus workshop, street performers, a dog show, an extreme MTB show, storytellers, Magicians, dancers, car show, graffiti workshop and much more! There’s plenty to see and do! Just what the area needs! This isn’t just a VW show, this isn’t just a music festival, It’s been a long time coming but we deserve this. Cheshire, and in particular Altrincham and Hale deserves to be host to a family weekend that is set to be one for the memory books.
